The 708 features seven HDMI inputs with video conversion and upscaling from all sources up to 1080p for HDMI output so that, whether you're watching a movie, an episode of your favourite TV series or a documentary, it'll look its best. The TX-NR708 packs a mighty punch when it comes to Blu-ray and upscaled DVDs and will make them look amazing on your HD-ready plasma or LCD flatscreen.
HD audio is also no problem for the TXNR708. It will decode Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD Master Audio/High Resolution Audio. The '708 supports the new Audyssey DSX and Dolby Pro Logic IIz audio processing systems. With this clever new technology, the 708 can add 'height' to the soundstage by driving two speakers positioned above your screen or an extra wide soundstage from speakers positioned wide of the front speakers (as well as the normal fronts and centre). This creates extra space and a more realistic soundfield, meaning you'll feel incredibly immersed in the film soundtrack.
The 708 boasts 7 channels of surround sound amplification with twin subwoofer outputs and second zone output. Apart from HD audio, standard Dolby Digital and DTS are decoded too and devices without HDMI are also catered for through the TXNR708's optical and coaxial inputs. Auto microphone calibration using the Audyssey MultEQ system makes it easy to set-up and fine tune your speakers - just plug in the microphone and the TXNR708 does the rest, correcting for acoustic distortion and creating a perfect set-up for your room.
The TX-NR708's networking features expand its repertoire even further. Connect it to your home network and you'll be able to stream your music files directly from your computer or DLNA compatible media server.
